It was heartening to see Raam Gopal Verma taking interest in Hindu scriptures and post his queries regarding Shree Ganesh on Twitter. Though many seemed agitated on RGV's choice of words, lets give him benefit of doubt and answer his question.<br />

Answer : Not fair RGV Saar. Not fair! How can you give your wishes on Ganesh Chaturthi only to those belonging to your tribe! Afterall we live in a secular Nation. Anyway, I'll still answer your question. Going by your words its seems your idea about God 'almighty' is a being that is Immortal and Invincible. Though I wouldn't disagree, there is an extension to this idea that you seem to have missed.<br />

Limiting God in the word 'Immortal' seems a bit immature. Immortality is an idea about those for whom a form is their limited identity, which if once destroyed can not be recovered by itself. Hence immortality is to preserve that form or even the formless identity forever. But what if one gains control over its own and other's life and death and rebirths...what if death is only a line that it can draw whenever and where ever it wishes to on the infinite playground of space, time and dimensions? Jumping from one side to the other like a game seems like fun, no? This fun can be loosely equated to sanskrit word 'leela' (लीला). (lets not think about Sunny Leone's Movie Leela. please) ;)<br />

Since you are a movie maker, let me put it in way that you can relate to. If in your movie an actor dies, does he die in real life too? No, right? Also, theres always a lesson to every story. This 'leela' too is similar to a movie.<br />

Shri Ganesh by means of this leela teaches us the kind of respect one must hold for her/his Mother, resolve and bravery. Shiva through the same leela teaches us ill effects of allowing our anger to take control over our sense.<br />

क्यों है मानव समाज भेड़-बकरियों के झुण्ड समान ?

बकरियों और भेड़ों का स्वाभाव भिन्न होता है—बकरी नियमों का पालन नहीं करती, स्वतंत्र होती है। भेड़ सदा अपने गडरिये का पीछा करती हैं। मानव समाज भी भेड़-बकरियों का झुण्ड ही तो है! यहाँ बकरियाँ कुछ नया ढूंढने में लगी रहती हैं, सदा नियमों को तोड़ती, जल धारा सी अपना मार्ग स्वयं बनाती… और भेड़—वही सदियों पुरानी भेड़चाल—चुपचाप अनुसरण करते हैं। मस्तिष्क को अधिक कष्ट दिए बिन चुपचाप अनुसरण करने वाले ही 'आदर्श नागरिक' होते हैं। कदाचित यही कारण है कि कुछ ईसाई पंथों के अनुसार शैतान का सर बकरे का दिखाया गया है तथा येशु को गडरिया मान भेड़ को आदर्श समझा जाता है। हिन्दुओं की कथाओं के अनुसार दक्ष प्रजापति के शिरच्छेद के पश्चात उन्हें नया सर बकरे का लगाया गया। समाज के बने रहने के लिए यह भी अनिवार्य है कि बकरियाँ कम हों, भेड़ अधिक।<br />

संसार जंगल है। यहाँ गडरिये नहीं होते, यहाँ समय का खूंखार भेड़िया होता है - सदा घात लगा कर ताक में बैठा कि कब इसे किसी मेमने की गर्दन चबाने मिले। चूक अथवा असफलता का अर्थ है इस भेड़िये रुपी काल का ग्रास बन जाना। पाप-पुण्य कुछ नहीं, केवल कर्म और कर्मफल। किसी बकरी ने एक नया मार्ग ढूंढा जहाँ से हो कर नर्म स्वादिष्ट घाँस बहुतायत में खाने मिले, किसी भेड़ ने उसका पीछा किया और तदोपरांत भेड़चाल प्रारम्भ। मज़े की बात ये है कि, भेड़ें सदा से ही बकरियों/ बकरों की बलि भी चढ़ाते आई हैं और इनका पीछा कर नए घाँस के मैदानों तक पहुँचते भी।<br />

"जिसकी लाठी उसकी भैंस" कभी यही भेड़चाल थी, बकरियों ने इसे तोड़ निर्बल का शोषण रोकने का मार्ग प्रशस्त किया। इस पहाड़ी की खड़ी चढ़ाई को चढ़ी। इसके लिए असंख्य 'बलि के बकरे' बने, पर अंत में पहाड़ी पर सुन्दर हरा-भरा घाँस का बिछौना पा ही लिया। जब भेड़ों ने देखा कि इस मार्ग से हो कर आप बुद्धिजीवी दिखने लगेंगे, सब आपका सम्मान करेंगे, कई नर-मादाएं ऐसे सन्मानित भेड़ों के संग जोड़े बनाने आतुर होंगे, चारा भी अधिक मिलेगा, तब सारी भेड़ इसी ओर लपक लीं। अब हर कोई निर्बल को सबल बनाने में जुट गया। निर्बल भेड़ों-बकरियों को लोग चारा अधिक देने लगे, निर्बल की सहायता करने के लिए ही अब प्रतियोगिता होने लगी। कोई किसी निर्बल की मालिश करने लगा तो कोई किसी का पृष्ठभाग चाट कर उसे साफ़ करने लगा। निर्बल पर 'किरपा बरसते' देख कई हट्टे-कट्टे भेड़ों ने स्वयं मरियल होने का दिखावा करना प्रारम्भ कर दिया। कुल मिला कर लाठी और भैंस का अब कोई रिश्ता नाता ही नहीं रहा। उलट अब तो जिसके पास लाठी हो, वही खलनायक! नयी प्रथा शुरू - "लाठी रखना पाप है"। इससे भी एक पग आगे बढ़कर, पहाड़ी के छोर तक पहुँचते हुए भेड़ों ने प्रथा चलाई कि "सींग रखना अपराध है", सबने अपनी सींगें तुड़वा लीं।<br />

अक्टूबर २००७ की दुर्घटना है - विल्डबीस्ट का एक विशाल समूह वार्षिक प्रवास (एनुअल माइग्रेशन) में केन्या की 'मारा' नदी पार करने जा रहे थे। एक विल्डबीस्ट ने एक घातक छोर पर छलांग लगा दी। बाकी के विल्डबीस्ट ने भी ना सोचा ना समझा, बस छलांग लगा दी - वही भेड़चाल! परिणाम स्वरुप अगले दिन १०,००० विल्डबीस्ट के मृतदेह एक किनारे तैरते पाये गए।<br />

आवश्यक नहीं कि लीक से हट कर कुछ करने वाले सदा सही ही होते हैं। कभी किसी अनुचित निर्णय का बड़ा भारी मूल्य भी चुकाना पड़ जाता है। विवेकशून्य विद्रोह प्रायः घातक होता है। भेड़ ना विवेक समझते हैं, ना विद्रोह—बस पिछलग्गु बन चले चलते हैं।<br />

 पहाड़ी के छोर तक पहुँच कर भेड़ों ने अपनी सींगें तुड़वा लीं थीं। इतने में सामने वही भेड़िया प्रकट हुआ जो अब तक घात लगाये बैठा था। अब आगे भेड़िया, पीछे खाई। कई भेड़ें धक्का-मुक्की में खाई में समा गयीं और कई भेड़िये का आहार बन गयीं। इतने में वही विद्रोही बकरियाँ सामने आयीं जिन्होंने अपनी सींगें ना तुड़वा कर भेड़ों से विद्रोह किया था। इन्हीं समाज द्वारा तिरस्कृत-बहिष्कृत बकरी/बकरों ने भेड़िये को खदेड़ा। इस प्रकार पुनः सींगें रखने का प्रचलन हुआ, पुनः लाठी, पुनः भैंस !<br />

Just a few days back when a Shiv Sena MLA tried to force feed the substandard quality food to the one who served it to make his point, Media ran the news 24x7. Remember people out on roads holding placards about saving Gaza and shouting slogans against Israel? Remember people on streets marching to support IPS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal? Remember people in other parts of India marching in support of Bodos and against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants? Remember outrage against Jove Jihad? No, you dont. Right? Why? because Hindus never went out and marched for themselves. Hindus </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">have taken the lesson of Secularism and all its skewed interpretations too seriously and tried to avoid every issue that involves another community's members as perpetrators. Sure, they may march out with candles when they are sure that there is not any 'communal' angle to it. I am yet to see an angry Hindu mob that comes out marching on road shouting slogans, let alone harm public property for something that concerns exclusively their own kind. You might feel inclined to point out the Ayodhya issue, but those were the times when Yusuk Khan was known as Dilip Kumar and the difference in population of the Majority and 'the' minority was huge, since most migrated to Pakistan. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Crux of the matter is if you want Media to pay heed, go violent.
